West Houston Charter School is a public K-8th grade charter school offering a classical education to its students. The school is limited by the State of Texas to an enrollment of 325 students so it is possible that there may be a waiting list for some grades. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is there a tuition?
No. West Houston Charter School is a publicly funded school.
Do we have to be in Katy ISD to attend West Houston Charter School?
No. West Houston Charter School is its own independent district. We are able to take students from the surrounding districts including, but not limited to; Katy, Cypress-Fairbanks, Fort Bend, Lamar Consolidated, Houston, Royal and Alief. Our attendance area does not include Sealy ISD.
What are the class sizes?
All homeroom classes are limited to 18 students per class. Some PE classes may have more than 18.
Are there uniforms?
Our dress code require students to wear red, royal blue or white polo shirts and navy blue bottoms. White button front shirts are also permitted. For more specifics about the dress code, please click on the DRESS CODE link on the right side of this page.
Do you serve lunch at school?
Yes. We are part of the federal lunch program. We serve both breakfast and lunch. Free and reduced meals are available to those who qualify.
Do you provide transportation?
No. Parents must either provide transportation for their children or use a daycare which provides transportation. No child may be dropped off before 7:20AM and all children must be picked up before 3:50PM.
Do you provide after school care?
The school does not provide after school care.
My child was expelled from school. May I enroll him at West Houston Charter School?
No. Our charter states: "Students with a documented history of discipline problems from their previous campus or from the juvenile justice system will be excluded from enrolling in the West Houston Charter School."
